Sight Reading Books:
Issued to each student at the beginning of the year, these are often lost or damaged. We use these every day in class and they are essential to individual learning
Folders:
Every student is given one of these at the beginning of the school year. They hold all of a student's sheet music and look professional in concerts if needed. They are collected at the end of the school year, but many students lose or damage them.
Sheet Music:
Due to legalities, individual copies must be purchased for each student. The $30 class fee payed at the beginning of the year only covers one concert per student, causing most of our fundraising dollars to go towards this.
New Sound Board:
The sound system in the Desert Vista Auditorium is in desperate need of replacing. Balancing the microphones for our soloists and Jazz choir has become an extremely difficult task. To put on the best performance possible, a new sound board is needed.
New Uniforms:
Our current uniforms are in their 14th year of service. It is time to discard the tired garments and purchase new ones.
Choir Room Piano Repairs/Replacement:
Our piano tuner has categorized our piano as a "dead piano". While it still does its job, it requires more frequent tunings because of pins becoming loose. The bridge is over 90% cracked, and the soundboard is damaged and warped. In order for students to have the best choral education possible, a new piano is essential.
New Microphones:
Our jazz choir requires the use of 20 microphones, and many are not in good shape. Their quality is lost over time, and can negatively affect the group. Mediocre mics produce a mediocre choir. At Desert Vista Choir, we want to provide the best experience for our students, teachers, and audiences.
Duplex Document Scanners:
Our school provides only two document scanners for all teachers to share, which results in long wait times and technological complications. At DV Choir, it is the responsibility of the students to print out the music necessary for rehearsal, but because of our situation, this can take Ms. Palermo hours to prepare. Having our own scanner would streamline the process, and result in higher quality copies for our students to learn from.
